The official FIBA 3×3 basketball court is 15 metres wide by 11 metres long, with one basket at the end of the court. Half of a standard FIBA full-size basketball court is also acceptable for official competition, which makes 3×3 one of the easiest court formats to plan for schools, clubs, communities, and backyard spaces.
What Is 3x3 Basketball?
3×3 basketball is a fast-paced, half-court format played with three players per team plus one substitute. It has become an Olympic sport and is widely used in community events, school programs, and recreational leagues because it needs less space than a full 5×5 court while keeping the same basket height and ball style.

3x3 vs Full Court
A 3×3 court uses roughly a half-court area with one basket, while a full basketball court needs two baskets and a larger footprint. For a facility that wants flexibility, a 3×3 court can be laid out inside a standard full-size court, or built as a standalone court where space is limited.
Building a 3x3 Court with Interlocking Tiles
Interlocking sport court tiles are a practical option for 3×3 courts because they can be installed over a suitable prepared base and removed or expanded when needs change. huasutile court tiles use interlocking installation and are available in PP or TPE materials, with overseas-facing models including S600, HBS Pro, T-XM, HPS, and others. Outdoor tiles are supported by test evidence for UV and weather resistance, and TPE models add cushioning for comfort-focused courts.
Warranty is material-specific: PP tiles are covered for 10 years, TPE tiles for 8 years. Lead times are typically 5-10 working days for standard production and 10-20 working days for customized production. Shipping options include express, air, sea, and rail, with trade terms such as EXW, FOB, CIF, FCA, DDU, and DDP.
Court Planning Checklist
- Confirm the playing area: 15m x 11m is the official size, but half a standard FIBA court is also acceptable.
- Check the base: the surface must be suitable, stable, and properly prepared before installation.
- Plan the line layout: mark the 3x3 lines and keep clearance around the court for safety.
- Choose tile material and model based on indoor or outdoor use, climate, and budget.
- Request a quote with dimensions, model, and destination for an accurate proposal.
Before Requesting a 3×3 Court Proposal
A court-size drawing is only the starting point. To prepare a project-specific tile recommendation and quotation, send:
- The available site dimensions and intended playing area.
- Indoor, outdoor, or covered use, plus project country and city.
- The existing base type and current-condition photos.
- The slope, drainage direction, and any known ponding areas.
- The required line layout, court colors, and logo needs.
- The target schedule and documents required for purchasing or approval.
These inputs help narrow the appropriate PP, PP + TPE, or TPE system. The final model should be confirmed against the site conditions and required documentation. Compare basketball court tile systems.
